When Minglan was a little girl, she had a small secret that she never told anyone else.

After her mother died, she left a painting to Minglan. It was not expensive or fancy, but it was the only thing Minglan had from her mother. The painting showed a brave female general guarding a city gate. She hid it carefully in her room, and never let other people see it. Sometimes when she missed her mother so much, she would take it out quietly and look at it for a long time. She did not cry in front of others, because she knew she had to be strong.

This small painting carried all her missing for her mother. It was also the little warm power that helped her get through her hard childhood.
